Get the Most out of Your Massage

Massage while not only relaxing and therapeutic can also be a deeply meditative experience. When you allow your mind and body to quiet down you'll find the body has a story to tell.
First a few facts about touch. There are approximately 5 million touch receptors in our skin. 3,000 in one single fingertip! Touch stimulates the release of endorphins (the body’s natural pain killer), this is why a Mom’s hug from a child’s skinned knee can literally make it better. Imagine the benefits then of 60 minutes of loving therapeutic touch!
Your body is fully capable of healing itself,
I hold space to remind your body of that.
Get the most out of your massage:
Before heading to the session spend 5 minutes of mindful movement to see how your body is feeling.
Arrive a few minutes early to prevent late arrival stress.
Know the massage therapist is holding a judgement free space for you.
Know the time during the session is all yours.
Set an intention for what you want to experience during your session.
Actively let go of anything that doesn't serve you during your session.
Let go of to-do lists, frustrations, and shoulds others may have placed on you.
Breath into and release any tension the body is holding onto.
Take inventory whenever you feel tension/tightness, are there any emotions attached to the tense area?
Process any emotions that may come up.
Take slow, easy, deep, belly breaths throughout the entire session.
Use it as a time to meditate.
If frustrating or painful memories come up, forgive and release the people involved, this includes yourself.
Take a nap if that is what your body is needing.
A Massage Therapist's Prayer:
I am here to hold space for your healing.
Your body is already fully capable of healing itself. I am here to remind it of this.
You get to forget to-do lists.
I got you.
You get to let go.
You get to surrender.
You get to be still.
You get to just be.
I got you.

May you relax from the frenetic life you are told to pursue.
